The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is studying the feasibility of rehabilitating and/or replacing the Long Bridge, a rail crossing over the Potomac River that is used by Amtrak, CSX, and Virginia Railway Express. As input is being solicited on two levels—structural/design and multimodal—Sharp & Company has developed a stakeholder outreach program that addresses two areas of involvement. First, to coordinate information among the many federal and local agencies that are providing input on the structural and design elements, we have assisted with the organization of a series of stakeholder workshops. Concurrently, we have also planned and organized several public meetings and prepared materials to reach out to riders and residents in and around the study area and gather input on proposed multimodal uses.
